Let us welcome, Amritanshu Shriwastav to the IITB Community. Prof. Shriwastav has joined the Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering.
Before joining IIT Bombay, Prof. Shriwastav served as a post-doctoral Fellow in the ‘Institute for Water and Wastewater Technology’, at Durban University of Technology, South Africa from April 2014 – December 2014. He has also completed his post-doctoral Fellow in Department of Civil Engineering of IIT Kanpur in August 2016 and obtained his PhD degree in 2014 at Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Kanpur.
Prof. Shriwastav’s research interest mostly focuses on study of advanced oxidation processes, fate and transport of pollutants in natural environment. Some of his works also show his concerns towards emerging of contaminants. His research work is also includes finding the remedy for heavy metal contamination and removal of biological nutrients. He has been working on algal-bacterial photo-bioreactors and algal bio-refineries for biofuel production since a long time now.
When asked about his future plans at IIT Bombay, he says that he is planning to investigate the role of sonophotolytic oxidation process for the removal of toxic pollutants from complex environmental matrices and to search for the remediation processes for chromium removal from contaminated soil and groundwater matrices. Finding out the process optimization towards algal bio-refinery approach with special focus on wastewater treatment will be his primary focus of interest during his career at IIT Bombay.
