Introducing Prof. Manoj Prabhakaran

Let us welcome, Prof. Manoj Malathi Prabhakaran to the IITB Community. He has been appointed as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Prior to joining IIT Bombay, Prof. Prabhakaran was a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign for 11 years where he served as an Assistant Professor from 2005-2011, and Associate Professor from 2011-2016. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Princeton University in year 2005. Prof. Manoj graduated from IIT Bombay in 2000, with a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and had the distinction of receiving his batch’s Institute Gold Medal. He has also received an IBM PhD Fellowship, was awarded NSF Career and a Beckman Faculty Fellowship. He had also been an  Associate Editor for Journal of Cryptology. 

His research interests span includes theoretical cryptography widening towards the field of information security and various topics in theoretical computer science. 

When asked about his future plans at IIT Bombay he explained that he plans to establish a world-class research group in theoretical and applied cryptography at IITB campus.
