Let us welcome Prof. Sunita Srivastava to the IITB Community. Prof. Srivastava has joined the Department of Physics. Prof. Srivastava has completed her BSc in Physics from Gorakhpur University in 2002 after which she completed her MSc from University of Pune in 2004. In 2009, she finished her PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Before joining IIT Bombay, Prof. Srivastava served as a Senior Research Fellow at Indian Institute of Science from 2009 to 2010. Later from 2010 to 2013 she worked as a Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory, New York. She was also a Guest Researcher at National Institute of Science and Technology, Maryland, from 2014 to 2016.
Her research interest includes Soft Matter, Self-Assembly, Colloids and Glassy Materials, Lipids and Biomolecules. She is also interested in studying the structure-property correlation in hybrids of nanomaterials in bulk and in confined geometry along with X-ray Scattering and Rheology.
When asked about her future plans at IIT Bombay she says that, “The goal of my research effort in the Soft Matter and Bio-Nanomaterials Group, is to develop methods for programmable nano architectures by design via self-assembly processes, using DNA as the guiding force, explore their functionalities and investigate structure-property relationship. We utilize the unique property such as recognition, re-configurability, and reversibility of interactions for regulated self-assembly of nano-objects in bulk as well under confinement.”
