We are delighted to welcome, Prof. Shantanu Tripathi to the IITB Community. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Bombay this year.
Prof. Tripathi completed his B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2003. After which he pursued his M.S. in University of California at Berkeley in 2005. In 2008, he completed his Ph.D. in University of California at Berkeley.
Prof. Shantanu has his research interests inclined towards ‘Design for Reliability, Mechanical & Environmental Reliability of Electronics’. He is also keen on exploring the field of Solder Joint Fatigue, Dynamic Shock and Drop, Stress Use-Conditions. Studying Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP), Tribology, Corrosion along with Semiconductor Fabrication are some of topics that interests him a lot.
Before joining IIT Bombay, Shantanu Tripathi was a Staff Engineer in Quality & Reliability Research and Development at Intel Corp. in Portland, Oregon, USA, where he served for 6 long years from 2010 to 2016. He lead R&D and certification of solder joint reliability of Intel component assembly, products that go into variety of markets such as smartphones, servers, wearables, industrial electronics etc. He was also a co-editor of Intel Assembly and Test Technology Journal. From 2008 to 2010, he was a Senior. Process Technology Development Engineer working on R&D of next generation semiconductor processes at Intel.
When asked about his plans at IIT Bombay, Prof.Shantanu responded that he aspire to flame the curiosity of bright UG students towards quest for truth and understanding about fundamental mysteries of our nature and universe.
