The second edition of Aavhan, IIT Bombay’s premier sports festival, was held on 29th March. The four-day extravaganza brought together participants to combine the thrill of competition with the joy of sports. With the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities playing host to over 5000 sports-persons representing universities, clubs and organisations across the nation, tough battles had waged across courts, fields and the pool in a bid to bring home the glittering trophies that are at stake in 14 different sports IIT Bombay stood first in cricket with man of the match being awarded to Divyanshu Bhartiya. IIT Bombay also stood first in football, women’s kho kho, volleyball both men and women and weight lifting under 85kg.Apart from that, IIT Bombay stood runner-up in men’s kho kho and men’s table tennis . With some of the finest talent from across the country on display, the atmosphere was electric and the spectator turnout were much larger than before. The fest ended on a high note with a closing ceremony that is scheduled in the Gymkhana grounds. The chief guests for the event were Mr. Sai Praneeth, a Badminton player who is ranked 15th in the world and Mr. Merwyn Fernandes, a gold medal winner at the 1980 Olympics.
