The launch of the ‘ASHRAE-IITB Student Chapter’


The Department of Mechanical Engineering has announced the official launch of the ‘ASHRAE-IITB Student Chapter’ on 17th April 2018. The focus of the ASHRAE-IITB student chapter will be to create a platform which will facilitate internships with Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) industries, provide start-up opportunities and encourage student participation in national/international events/competitions related to HVAC&R field by providing funding and technical support for the same.Student Branches offer student members the opportunity to interact and 'network' with members of the local ASHRAE Chapter, to participate in technical tours, learn from guest speakers, present technical papers, and to interact with other students with the same career interests.

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the industry. Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes tomorrow’s built environment today. ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASHRAE) founded in 1904.
