Everest Base Camp Expedition

IITB Sports organized the first ever Everest Base Camp Expedition for the students, giving them a unique opportunity to experience the grandeur of Mt. Everest and add thrill to an eventful Summer

The camp was a 14 nights / 15 days exciting experience covering around 62 km and going to an altitude of 18,192 feet. The group started their trek from Kathmandu on 6th June 2018 with expectations and determination. It was a long and difficult road to the foothills of the Himalayas which they covered in about 8 days and collecting memories of the beautiful mountains, terrains and vegetation on their way up.

This expedition was for the students to get a very close view of the Mt. Everest but Hemant Gupta IITB graduate from metallurgical engineering did the real trek by summited the Mt Everest recently. He was working as a manager in the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) in Jamshedpur of Jharkhand. Hemant tried to climb the Everest in 2015 with his mother but couldn’t climb due to an earthquake in Nepal which was not enough to stop him. So he tried again and achieved his goal in April 2018.
