Independence Day celebration

The Institute celebrated the 73rd National Independence Day with great vigour and patriotism on Aug 15, 2019. The flag hoisting ceremony was held in front of the Main Building (foyer side) on the account of the event. Hon’ble Director of the institute unfurled the National flag which was followed by the national anthem and a short speech by him. Celebrations also took place in Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Bombay where the students presented various cultural performances and acts related to our Indian history in beautiful traditional dresses. The Director also appreciated and applauded the students for their wondrous performances. The ceremonial flag hoisting also took place in various hostels of the institute.

As a tradition, Saathi, the LGBTQ Resource Group of IIT Bombay, held its Acceptance Meet on on Independence Day.  It was organized by Humsafar Trust and Yaariyan with support from Amplify Change and British High Commission, New Delhi, in association with Umang Lbt Persons, OGraphy, QueerAdda Mumbai and 6 Degrees for LGBTQ individuals and their family (close and extended), colleagues, friends, and supporting allies.
