Abstract:

 

Steel consumption per capita directly correlates with GDP in any developing economy. In the quest towards US$ 5 trillion economies, the steel sector in India is therefore expected to play an important role. The right strategy and hard work are crucial concoctions for success in this crucial sector. A glance at JSW Steel and its approach towards growth and excellence will be highlighted in the talk.

 

 

About the speaker:

 

Dr. Vinod Nowal is currently Deputy Managing Director of JSW Steel. The company produces 18 million tonnes of steel and is on a fast growth path. He is responsible for the steel vertical across three major manufacturing facilities at Vijaynagar in Karnataka, Dolvi in Maharashtra and Salem in Tamil Nadu. During his earlier stint at Vijaynagar, he spearheaded its expansion towards becoming India's Largest Integrated Steel Manufacturing site. He is a member of the Vision Group of the Government of Karnataka. He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Doctorate degree in Inventory Management. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School. Dr. Nowal is also a member of the Advisory Committee of CoEST.
