Let us welcome, Prof. Lalit Kumar to the IITB Community. Prof. Kumar has joined the Department of Energy Science and Engineering (ESE). He completed his B.Tech and M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2002 and 2004, respectively. He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering from NTNU Trondheim, Norway in 2014.
Before joining IIT Bombay, Prof. Kumar served as a Research Assistant at ETH Zurich. He has earlier worked at Hindustan Unilever Research Centre for almost 4 years as a principal research associate. Along with his industry experience, Prof. Kumar also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at University of British Columbia for 2 years from 2014 to 2016.
Prof. Kumar’s research interest primarily lies in wax deposition, pipeline shut in and flow restart process at subsea conditions. In addition to this, Prof. Kumar’s interest also includes topics in thermochemical heat storage and oil-water separation.
When asked about his future plans at IIT Bombay, he said "Apart from my obvious research and teaching interest, I also want to participate (actively involved) in startups based on water cleaning and software development for oil industries."
