E-Summit 2017

E-Cell, IIT Bombay organised the 12th edition of E-Summit 2017 on 28th and 29th January. The event was a huge success as it witnessed  a pleasantly surprising increase in the number of attendees.There were close to 25,000 people who were attending the Speaker Sessions, Workshops & Competitions, making it the largest Entrepreneurship Summit in India.

Day 1 kick started with a Keynote  address by Amitabh Kant. The man behind the revolution all set to transform India, CEO of Niti Ayog, Mr. Amitabh Kant marked the beginning of the summit with his magnanimous presence.  Expressing his views on the recent burning issues such as demonetization and its effects on the economy, he left the the audience electrified with his ambitions on making India the biggest startup hub in the world. 

 Hosting some of the most unique innovators from around the world,  the innovation conclave kicked off with a talk from Faisal Siddiqui, Southeast Asia head of HTC who explained the various technologies HTC continuously employs to keep its design elegant and updated. This years E-Summit welcomed the real life Phunsukh Wangdu, Mr.Sonam Wangchuk who explained how Innovation has changed our lives and is the Need of the hour today. He also explained few of his upcoming projects. It also saw a multitude of foreign speakers like Nel Cross( Chief innovation Officer, DBS Bank), Jim Beach, Pa Joof, John Rampton and many others.

The revolutionary media entrepreneur, Rajat Sharma, CEO-IndiaTV enlightened the audience with lessons from his life story. In a humorous way, he  also spoke of his numerous interactions with Narendra Modi

A novel introduction to this year's summit was the informal nights. Mr. Vipul Goyal and Mr.Sapan Varma , the well known stand up comedians drove the crowd crazy with their excellent comic timing.

Day 2 kept up with the zeal of the event as the  India head of Morgan Stanley, Mr.Ridham Desai spoke about the recent fluctuations in the startup valuations and also the networth value.  His words focused mainly on the upliftment of the entrepreneurial market and the current scenario.

The major highlight of Day 2 was the Panel discussion with Ronnie Screwvala & Dheeraj Rajaram . The audience was all engaged as Mr. Ronnie Screewvala put forth light on the difficult decisions every entrepreneur has to take and also spoke about investment and funding for a startup whereas quite relevantly Dheeraj Rajaram focused on the not so glamorous side of entrepreneurship and the risk factor involved. It was rather interesting to watch the two eminent personalities but forward their contrasting views on entrepreneurial management and responsibilities.

The much loved and fascinated competition of all-”The Ten Minute Million”  witnessed 6 startups who had to put forth their idea to the panel of investors who after 10mins would fund them with 1.5 million if the concept was worth it.It was a record breaker as  3 succesful entreprenurs bagged this sum with their very unique startup idea.

The co-founder of Hyperloop, Mr.Bibop  Gabriele Greize  spoke about the importance of this technology and focused on it's introduction in India and the benefits it shall nurture.

With a series of insightful lectures by the prominent entrepreneurs of the world and head scratching competitions, this year’s E-Summit has set a new benchmark for next year.
