Four delegates from Tokyo Institute of Technology, a national university in Japan, visited IIT Bombay on 1st March, 2017. The Institute ranks within the top 100 in the world and ranks 14 in Asian University rankings.
The meet promised to promote co-operation between Tokyo Institute of Technology and IIT Bombay. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed agreed to conduct joint workshops proposed in the areas of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science as a start to build relationship between the two institutions. The agreement also facilitates joint supervision for PhD programme and Dual Degree – PhD. During the meeting, student exchange programmes were discussed and taken into due consideration to be executed at the earliest.
In addition to agendas related to the MoU, 8 Japanese universities visited the campus on 9th March, 2017 to promote Japan Institute Cooperation Agency’s ‘Innovative Asia Programme’. This programme offers scholarship for students pursuing Masters and PhD was also briefed during the meeting. The entire funding would be taken care by JICA. The program focusses on 12 Asian countries with opportunities to conduct research, enrollments in Masters and Doctoral degree programs in Japanese universities.
