The annual design festival of IIT Bombay, Vision, brought by the Design Club was held on 21 and 22 October. The highlight of the fest was the two “MasterTalks” to propagate knowledge in design while also instilling a sense of creativity among students.
MasterTalk 1.0 was delivered by Mr. Karan Gujar on 21 October, on "Motion Design, CGI & Branding". He is a young creative art director, experienced in communication and visual design from India. In the past few years, he has worked with various clients as a freelancer around the globe, one of them being Adobe. He has been featured on various platforms and magazines. Currently, he is working at the Paintbox studio as a creative art director.
MasterTalk 2.0 was delivered by Simoul Alva on 22 October on "How to gain creative confidence & build your portfolio". A visual designer and art director originally from Mumbai, she represented India at the 44th Worldskills Abu Dhabi for Graphic Design. She is the South Asia recipient of the Helen Landsowne Resor Scholarship 2017 by J. Walter Thompson and the 4A's Foundation. Her work has been recognized by the Type Director's Club, Luerzer's Archive, PRINT Magazine, Design Week, How Brand, VICE, The Art Director's Club, Communication Arts, WeTransfer and AIGA: Eye On Design. She has received numerous awards and honors such as the Art Director's Club Award, The Patrick Kelly Scholarship, and TDC Typography Excellence Award to name a few. Simoul has previously collaborated with Pentagram, Sagmeister & Walsh, The New York Times, Adobe, WIRED, Samsung Research America and Wieden+Kennedy. She graduated from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, with a degree in Graphic Design.
Apart from this, the fest also displayed an exhibition of design projects undertaken by students, in the LH foyer, as well as the screening of the movie ‘Ready Player One’ in the IDC auditorium on 21 October.
