Dear Friend,
Greetings from IIT Bombay.
February saw the campus abuzz with events and activities, including the semester mid-term examinations. The campus also saw the inaugural run of the public bicycle sharing system by Zoom Car as the novel initiative kicked off in the Institute.
The student gymkhana elections had the campus riveted with excitement and suspense. Please join me in congratulating all the contestants and wishing the winners successful terms ahead.

This month we were honoured to host Prof Serge Haroche, Nobel Prize Winner who delivered a Nobel Laureate Lecture in the campus. We also had Prof Rajmohan Gandhi in the Institute who delivered an Institute lecture on the topic ‘Was Gandhi like us, and can we be like him?’. Apart from that we also had Prof David Field from the Washington State University to deliver a lecture as a part of the Steel Colloquium in the Institute.
The Institute continues to attract outstanding talent as new faculty members. Several have joined IIT Bombay in the past. We are pleased to bring a short introduction of Prof Sudipta Das Gupta from the Department of Earth Sciences in the article below.
The generous contributions received from our alumni, corporate entities, and other friends of the Institute help in making an important difference in our endeavour to pursue global excellence. The contributions towards Institute Development, Infrastructure Development, Young Faculty Awards, Chair Professorships, Hostel Development, Student Development, etc. are examples of utilization of these funds for the betterment of the Institute. We invite you to contribute to the Institute’s betterment to the best of your ability.
