Hope you had a great start to 2020.
The beginning of the new spring semester in January saw students returning back to the campus with joy and excitement. On January 26, 2020, IIT Bombay proudly celebrated the nation’s 71st Republic Day. The event included a ceremonial parade followed by a series of entertainment programs at the Institute Gymkhana Grounds.
The Entrepreneurship Cell at IIT Bombay organized E-Summit 2020 from February 1 - 2 2020, on campus. E-summit is a vibrant conclave of competitions, workshops, panel discussions, and speeches from the biggest names in the world of business. It continues to inspire countless ideas, expedite innovative startups, and multiply fruitful networks through a jam-packed cluster of events designed for everyone.
The annual Science and Technology festival of IIT Bombay, Techfest was held from January 3 - 5, 2020. Team of managers and coordinators spearheaded events round the year ranging from social initiatives like the Bone Health Campaign to the online crypt hunt Segreta. They also raised awareness about captivating existing and upcoming technologies through their Facebook page.
IIT Bombay’s annual social festival: Abhyuday was conducted on January 18 and 19. Some of its events include ‘Kala Manch’- the online art competition, the ‘Youth Delegate Program’ and ‘Profectus’ - the fellowship program. The fest also promises a variety of lectures by eminent personalities like Padma Bhushan recipient Dr. K. K. Talwar and Innovation Ambassador at the UN, Dr. Sheetal Amte.
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay organized an Institute distinguished lecture by Mr. Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, Government of France on the topic, “How the economy of culture is reshaping the world" on January 27, 2020. The Institute also organized an Institute Colloquium on January 17, 2020, by Professor Joachim Frank, Nobel laureate in chemistry (2017), Columbia University, New York on the topic, "Single-particle cryo-EM: Visualization of biological molecules in their native states". There was another Institute Lecture organized on January 8, by Elizabeth H. Bradley, Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York on the topic, "Liberal Arts Education: A Global Perspective".
IIT Bombay signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran on August 4, 2018. Also, IIT Bombay and Dhofar University extended their already signed agreement on October 26, 2018 for a further period of five years. These MoUs promote the visits and exchange of research scholars which increase the exchange of information including research publications of faculty members.
The start of the month witnessed the Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Bombay conduct the E-Summit 2020 on February 1 - 2, 2020. This is the flagship event of E-cell which is a vibrant conclave of competitions, workshops, panel discussions, and speeches from the biggest names in the world of business. Some of the esteemed speakers gracing the 15th edition of E-summit include Mr. Rishad Premji, Mr. Anurag Kashyap, T.V. Mohandas Pai and Ashish Chanchlani.
The generous contributions received from our alumni, corporate entities, and other friends of the Institute help in making an important difference in our endeavor to pursue global excellence. The contributions towards Institute Development, Infrastructure Development, Young Faculty Awards, Chair Professorships, Hostel Development, Student Development, etc. are examples of utilization of these funds for the betterment of the Institute. We invite you to contribute to the Institute’s betterment to the best of your ability.
